Jar

Pottery jar with red wash surfaced. Flat base and restricted neck with plain rim. Sides almost straight, rather like a canopic jar or a jar for holding shabti figures. From the University of Liverpool 1908 excavations at Abydos: grave 562 A'08. From the same grave is an Anhydrite vessel lid, now the Garstang Museum No. E2553. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Pitted surface, cracking base, whitish discolouration, blackened at top, surface dirt.
