Jar

Ovoid shaped pottery jar, pointed base, flared mouth. Polished red surface with a black band running around the neck and rim. Neck repaired and some areas of surface loss. One of the previous owners, Amy Urlin, assisted W. M. F. Petrie on his excavation of the cemetery at Abydos in 1901, which may have been the source of this object. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Previous repair, chipped, pitted, surface loss, surface dirt.
