Jar and Lid

Egyptian alabaster jar and cover. Finely carved and in perfect condition. Old Kingdom or Middle Kingdom. Base of the jar is marked in black ink: "Gow / Qau } el Kebir the ancient Antaeopolis. Ali of Gizeh Jan. 27. 1903 Ali of Gizeh, Jan 27 1903". CONDITION NOTE 1998: Rim chipped, worn, scratched, label adhered to surface, surface dirt. Danson Catalogue 2 no. 54.
