Pottery sherd from a coarse red ware vessel covered with a smooth buff coloured slip. Painted with a light band of blue and a representation of a wedjat eye in brown-black with a touch of red ("the good child of the Aten"). Marked on the back in ink "1039". From the 1923-24 excavation of the Egypt Exploration Society, from the Main City, find no. 24/1039. This appears as a handwritten addition on the 1926/7 distribution list, "1039 fragment of painted pottery from earlier work". CONDITION NOTE (1998): Some surface loss, surface dirt, adhesive on base.
