The paper is watermarked 'E + S 1829', which may be an indication of the likely date of this watercolour. Muller began painting at an early age, and if he did produce this in 1829, he would have been 17 years old, precocious, but not impossible. It is possible this is a scene along the river near Bristol, where Muller grew up.
