Photograph of Joseph Parry taken during his later career working for the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company, as Dock Gateman. This photograph is one item of a collection of documents associated with Joseph Parry and the sinking of the Lusitania. Joseph was an Able Seaman on board Lusitania when she was torpedoed. A recognised hero of the disaster, Joseph worked alongside Leslie Morton to save over 100 survivors from the sea, and both were awarded Board of Trade medals for gallantry by King George V. Other items in the archives collection include postcards and a copy of A Merchant Fleet at War by Alexander Hurd, dedicated and presented to him onboard Cunard's Caronia on 10 September 1920.
