Mounted albumen print by J.A. Green (Jonathan Adagogo Green), 1897. Image shows Oba Ovonramwen, stearted in a wicker chair, clad in a dark velvet robe with shackles around his ankles. Three guards weilding bayonettes stand behind him. Ovonramwen was sent into exile in Calabar following the British punitive expedition, which involved the razing of Benin City and looting of the Benin Bronzes.
