La Jeune Fille Au Coquillage, or, Young Girl with a Shell

This is a bronze version of the figure which appeared as a plaster at the 1853 Paris Salon and as a marble at the 1855 Paris Exposition Universelle. This figure of a young girl with a shell is based on the text of a poem by the French writer, Alphonse de Lamartine (1790 - 1869). Lever greatly admired French 19th-century sculpture.
