This watercolour painting depicts the designs for two female figures from the play 'Queen Victoria'. An inscription on the lower left below the figures reads 'Ladies 1854'. The figure on the left is wearing a green, red, blue and cream tartan dress with a wide tiered skirt and tiered sleeves. A white shirt is worn below and two tiers of white frill show ar the sleeves. The figure has brown hair, beneath a bonnet of the same print. One hand is raised to their chin. The figure on the right is wearing a grey, black and blue tartan dress with a two tiered wide skirt. This figure also has a white shirt showing beneath and a layer of frill at the sleeve. The figure has light brown or blonde hair worn beneath a white bonnet.
