Lady Lever

This is a replica of the posthumous bust of Lady Lever commissioned by Lever in 1916 and exhibited at the Royal Academy that year. The original bust was paired with a bust of Lever himself. This replica was presumably intended specifically for the Lady Lever Art Gallery, nearing completion in 1919. The bust shows Lady Lever wearing 'court dress', typically a white or cream dress with full train that was worn to attend court.
