Lago Maggoire, Italy

The third son of Thomas Miles Richardson (the Elder) (1784-1848), Richardson enjoyed a successful career as a watercolourist, exhibiting numerous works with the Society of Painters in Water Colours. Lake Maggiore, also known as Verbano, is on the south side of the Alps. The lake is divided between Italy and Switzerland, making it the second largest lake in Italy and the largest in southern Switzerland.
