The Lamentation

A pen and ink drawing of a scene of Lamentation of Christ, with Mary and Christ in the centre of the composition. The upper torso of Christ is slumped over the grieving Mary's lap, and they are surrounded by six other figures [four females and two apostles] in various poses, all in desperate mourning. One seated female figure on the far right examines Christ's left hand for the nail wound, while the male figure kneeling on the far left holds Christ's right arm while supporting Mary's right arm.
