A green jasper oil lamp with white jasper applied decoration. The lamp was designed to hang and probably did not give very much light at all. There are small shell shaped white jasper mouldings around the body where wicks would have emerged from the oil in the lamp body. These wicks would have been burnt to give the light. This type of Wedgwood hanging lamp is very rare, it is believed that he only made six such lamps.
