Hiles was a member of the Liverpool Academy of Arts and this watercolour is part of a Liverpool Academy album presented to Alderman John Lea (1850 - 1927) in 1926. The location of this landscape is unknown. Hiles spent most of his life living at Wirral, Cheshire.
