Landscape with Castle

Hagarty trained at the Liverpool School of Art and later under the artist Adolphe William Bouguereau (1825 - 1905) at the Academy Julian in Paris. He was born in Canada but the family settled in Britain and he was recorded as being in Liverpool in the early 1880s and in Cardiff in 1890. His sister Mary S Hagarty was also a painter; the Walker owns one of her watercolours (WAG 7527).
