Landscape with castle and river

This work was in a collection of drawings and engravings attributed to Nathanial George Philips (1795-1831), some of which were bound in a scrapbook containing Views in Lancs. and Cheshire from pictures by N.G. Phillips, and other sketches and studies by Phillips and other artists. The title page of the scrapbook was inscribed Caroline Phillips Sep. 1841. The items in the collection acquired by the Walker Art Gallery appear to be by various hands and it is suggested that this work is German and possibly by a view painter working in Heidelberg.
