Last Supper

LL 136

Information

Inscribed T.T., the monogram of Tobias Tissenaken (active 1596-1624). Tissenaken was not the sculptor but the head of a workshop employing many craftsman. Reliefs of the Last Supper were one of the Malines alabaster workshops’ most popular products. Here you can see figures gathered round a table in the foreground, with decorative features in the higher background of two arched windows. This is in its original frame but it is now lacking its original decoration.
