Letter written by Frederick Arthur Russell, 1st Class Waiter, to his brother Harry, describing his experiences during the sinking of Lusitania. Henry Alfred Russell worked as a chef on board Cunard's Caronia, which had been requsitioned to serve as an Armed Merchant Cruiser shortly before Lusitania's last voyage. Henry was on board Caronia as it patrolled the waters around New York harbour on 1 May 1915, and watched his brother's ship sail past, not imagining what would unfold a few days later.
