Information

Kwami describes this print as his most direct response to the African displays in the World Cultures Gallery at World Museum, which he visited in the summer of 2014. The rich colours of the tightly composed blocks and geometric accents of this print demonstrate the stimulating impact of the gallery's formalized displays of African creative works on Kwami's own artistry and innovative visual practice. Three brass gold weight designs from the World Museum collection (including 1974.30.648) are overprinted in yellow. A black silhouette of an Asante stool in the World Museum collection (DP Temp 4162) is also overprinted.
