'Liverpool Counterpoint 5'

LIV.2015.51.5

Information

The 'Liverpool Counterpoint 5' print is a study of curved ornamentation and "syncopated squares". Kwami was particularly attracted to the "gorgeously incised geometric curves" on a pottery jar from Ghana's Volta Region in the World Museum collection (1.2.11.30) and the way that the jar's curved handles complemented this pattern. He represented a top view of this jar in the middle block of his print.
