Information

In the 1980s many people living in the Liverpool 8 area, where a high proportion of the community is Black, felt under siege from police harassment, racists and high unemployment. The Chief Constable blamed the 1981 uprising on 'thieves and vagabonds'. Many people in the city and the Liverpool 8 Writers Workshop saw things differently, and supported Levi Tafari and others in voicing their experiences in this book, published in 1989.
