Wooden carving of a lotus, perhaps the top of a sceptre. Painted red, green, yellow. Date uncertain.
CONDITION NOTE 1998: Surface flaking and lifting, surface cracks, pigment loss, holed, splitting, surface dirt.
Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession no. 129227 (registration no. R109/1935): GAVEL. Wood, covered in coloured gesso. Egyptian (original). Bought 9 March 1933 from Cairo Museum by Captain Saint. One of about 50 or more items sold by the Egyptian Museum, Cairo, in 1933 to Captain Saint, one of Sir Henry Wellcome's agents.
