Lower part of female naked statuette

Lower half of a female statuette, naked with a soft belly and pronounced hips. The woman is posed in the pudica mode: her left arm descended and crossed the body; it would attach to the left hip but rest on the right thigh. The breakage on the right thigh is the point where the splayed fingers of the hand rested The pubis would have therefore been shielded by the lower arm or wrist. On her left there are still visible the remnants of the support, the strut. Above the support there are remnants of the attached drapery, the folds are made by a drilled channel. The pose of the woman follows the typology of the Venus Capitoline or the Medici one. This type of Venus both erotic and beautiful was extremely popular in Roman times. Such statues were appropriate for both public and private contexts.
