The Madonna and Child : Study for the Presentation in the Temple

This drawing is a copy of the figure of the Virgin with the Christ Child from the 'Presentation of Christ', painted by Paolo Veronese (1528 - 1588) for the organ shutters of San Sebastiano, Venice, 1558 - 60. The drawing is attributed to Giambattista Zelotti (1526 - 1578), a contemporary of Veronese's and his frequent collaborator on artistic projects. The drawing may have belonged to an Italian collector (Pseudo Resta-Somers) before William Roscoe acquired it.
