A Maiden

A study for a woman with a vase on the south side of the St. Maria della Steccata in Parma. The comission to paint the apse and barrel vaulting was given to Parmigianino in 1531. Most of the work was exectuted after 1535 and never finished by the artist. The closeness of the study to the figure as it was eventually executed suggests that it is fairly late in a sequence of studies.
