Sketched in the Trattoria Giorgione di San Silvestro in Venice, where Sickert often ate and drew customers whilst he was in the city in 1903 - 1904. Drawn on corresponding paper to WAG 5343. The arches in the background correspond to other sketches of the Giorgione San Silvestro, particularly cat. no. 225.2 in Wendy Baron's 'Sickert: Paintings and Drawings' (2006).
