Marie Antoinette, born in 1755, was the wife of King Louis XVI of France. His portrait is shown on her pendant. Her clothing is decorated with the fleur-de-lis which is a symbol of French royalty. Marie Antoinette was beheaded in 1793 during the French Revolution. The original sculpture on which this bust was based was made by Felix Lecomte in 1783. This bust was once owned by Antoinette's tutor, the Abbé de Vermond.
