Information

This is a study for a painting entitled 'Two Windows/Two People' by Maurice Cockrill which is in the Walker Art Gallery collection. Cockrill lived in Liverpool from the early 1960s to 1982. He was commissioned to make the painting for a 1973 exhibition on the theme of ‘Communication’. The painting focuses on a couple’s relationship as they photograph one another. The windows depicted in the painting appear to be those of Windermere House, owned by the poet Roger McGough, where Cockrill spent some time. This is one of several studies that Cockrill donated to the Walker Art Gallery in 1974.
