M.E.P. (Liverpool) Ltd. made hatch and grain shifting boards to prevent bulk grain from moving in a ship's hold. The older design of individual hatch boards was replaced by steel folding hatches from the 1960s, and the firm built their own design - "MEPCO" patent folding steel hatch covers.
The collection came in in two deposits, the first in 1982 and the second one, relating to the winding up of the company, in 2009. It consists of 5 boxes, including various drawings, which are listed individually in the separate catalogue.
The collection is held at the reserve store and is available by appointment only.
