Miniature krater

Small scale bell shaped krater, a drinking vessel, with a round base and short foot, two vertical and ear lobed shaped handles and an everted rim. It is decorated in the red-figure on black technique with a single female head in proifile on each side. The women have their hair tied up at the top and covered with a sakkos. There is decoration of dots around the forehead and the edges of the sakkos suggesting that the women wear a diadem or jewellery around the head as well as earrings. In between the two women to the side there is vertical band of v shapes and s on the other side. The areas underneath the handles are decorated with a palmette. One side of the rim is broken.
