Model of a Bird

Model of a bird from a funerary model figure. Hole in the top suggests this was pegged to another objects, perhaps to the hand of an offering bearer. Roughly shaped, painted white with detailing in black for feather markings, and red for beak, legs and feet. From Beni Hasan, cemetery below the Middle Kingdom rock-cut tombs: excavated by John Garstang of the Liverpool Institute of Archaeology, 1902-1904.
