Model of Four Jars

Model of a four jars set in basket, to be carried by a servant. Roughly square basket. Modelled separately on top are four sealed beer jars, with black painted conical stoppers. Marked BH 112 in black ink. From the tomb of Hathor-m-hat [Ht-Hr-m-HAt]. One side chewed by termites. From Beni Hasan, cemetery below the Middle Kingdom rock-cut tombs: excavated by John Garstang of the Liverpool Institute of Archaeology, 1902-1904.
