Model of a saddle quern with grinding stone, used to mill grain and produce flour. Small, oval, narrower at one end, thin grind stone on top. One of six similar shaped models of quern stones from the same burial. One of 28 clay models of tools and vessels found in grave 154E '06. Similar model tools were found by the Liverpool Institute of Archaeology excavations at Abydos in 1907 in tombs 312, 329, and 360 (see Steven Snape, Mortuary Assemblages from Abydos, 1986, pp. 206, 210 and 221).
