Model of a scribe from a granary model. Gesso and painted reddish brown, white and black. Squatting, writing on board with right hand. On right side of the board there is a depiction of a pen holder in black paint. Garstang's Appendix describes the figure as having hieratic writing on the palette. Mounted on modern wooden base. From Beni Hasan tomb 81, the tomb of Nefera and Arythotep. The cemetery below the Middle Kingdom rock-cut tombs: excavated by John Garstang of the Liverpool Institute of Archaeology, 1902-1904.
