Model of a Servant

Painted wooden seated figure from Beni Hasan tomb 81. Both arms missing. Badly ant damaged with most of the right side missing. With a separate wooden base (modern?) with peg to support figure, marked in black BH 81 (73 x 66 x 17 mm). From Beni Hasan, cemetery below the Middle Kingdom rock-cut tombs: excavated by John Garstang of the Liverpool Institute of Archaeology, 1902-1904. CONDITION NOTE (1998): On wooden base, arm separate, wood very dry, previous infestation, surface loss, concretions.
