Painted wooden figure of a man. Black hair and white kilt. Carrying a large wicker basket, decorated with black paint, on his left shoulder. Large patches of surface loss and areas of modern repair with cream coloured substance. Marked in pencil by the excavator 412 (indicating this is from the tomb of Bakta, number 412). From Beni Hasan, cemetery below the Middle Kingdom rock-cut tombs: excavated by John Garstang of the Liverpool Institute of Archaeology, 1902-1904; given to the museum by John Rankin per Professor Newberry. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Incomplete, surface is flaking, areas of loss, fill in damaged areas, surface is cracked, surface dirt; Conserved in 2017.
