Model of a Servant

55.82.42

Information

Painted wooden figure of a man bent over, wearing a white kilt. Legs snapped off and missing. Two arms are now separate, with the right forming both and arm and oar (could actually mean it's a hand holding a knife as in crude butchering scenes) which might place this figure with object 55.82.41 from Tomb 203. From Beni Hasan, cemetery below the Middle Kingdom rock-cut tombs: excavated by John Garstang of the Liverpool Institute of Archaeology, 1902-1904. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Incomplete, painted surface is damaged, cracked, surface loss, surface dirt, one loose limb.
