Model of a shield painted to imitate cow-hide reinforced at the edges with rawhide stitch work, indicated in dots of red paint. Broken down the left hand side. John Garstang recorded it as being from tomb 541 "in three pieces" (1907, p. 229) but now is just two pieces mended together with one missing. From Beni Hasan, cemetery below the Middle Kingdom rock-cut tombs: excavated by John Garstang of the Liverpool Institute of Archaeology, 1902-1904.
