Reddish-brown pottery mould used for the manufacture of small faience objects with the king's name within a cartouche: Amenhotep, netjer heqa Waset aa em ahauef ('Amenhotep, the god and ruler of Thebes, great in respect of his lifetime'). This was the birth name of Amenhotep IV, a pharaoh who reigned for five years before changing his name to Akhenaten. CONDITION NOTE: Bottom edge broken off. Remains of old adhesive and paper on back. Back has a pinched surface with remains finger prints preserved. Perhaps an old mark in ink '0'. Formerly in the collection of Lord Grenfell. Most likely to be from Tell el Amarna.
