Information

Stone mould for manufacturing metal jewellery. Compare with 'Haracles to Alexander the Great' (Oxford, 2011), p. 104, fig. 93 (cat. no. 363). Charles Gatty's 1879 catalogue description states " mould with a circular medallion on one side bearing a figure of St. George killing the dragon; probably used for casting medals. St. George was a native of Cappadocia, about AD 303".
