Mountainous Landscape, North Wales

WAG 1247

Information

It is not known which Welsh mountains are depicted in this watercolour. The artist, Thomas Collier, moved to Betws-y-Coed in North Wales in 1864 and he remained there until 1869. During this time, Collier mainly painted in North Wales and occasionally in the Lake District. He relished painting outdoors and it is possible that he may have returned to North Wales in 1873 when this was painted.
