Mummified Cat

The mummified remains of a cat, wrapped in a plain sheet of linen, the ears and face modelled. Around the neck are two light and two dark coloured bands of linen. Probably from the early Romano-Egyptian Period but the date remains unclear and it may be from an earlier period of time. CONDITION NOTE 1998: damage to back of mummy, outer bindings are fraying and completely gone at back of head revealing fibres, discolouration, fragmenting a little at base, surface dirt.
