Mummified bird, thought to be a falcon or other raptor. Sampled and published in Nature, 2004, as part of a study of complex organic chemical balms of used in the preperation of animal mummies. CONDITION NOTE 1998: Bindings fragmenting and fragile, discoloured. Miss Josephine Gilstrap of Nottinghamshire donated money to the British School of Archaeology in Egypt between 1900 and 1910. She was given a share of the excavated finds from a range of archaeological sites in return for the funding she provided. This included three mummified animals recorded as being from W. M. F. Petrie's excavations at Kafr Amar (Tarkhan).
