Mummy Covering

Painted fragment of a mummy covering decorated with an image of the funerary deity Duamutef. Wellcome Historical Medical Museum accession no. 243726. Purchased at Sotheby's, London, 22 October 1934 (Mansoor Abd Essayid collection) Lot 145/31 "Two Masks; four Collars; a Winged Nut; a winged Scarabaeus; eight Figures of funerary Deities; eight Fragments of Bands; and five Sandals, in cartonnage painted and gilt". CONDITION NOTE (1998): Discoloured, surface cracks, some lifting of pigment, has plaster adhered to surface.
