Cartonnage mask and one packet of fragments. CONDITION NOTE (1998): Large cracked and splitting, one area where fragment is flapping loosely, surface loss, surface flaking and lifting around damaged areas, one loose fragment, misshapen, wadding still in main head cavity, surface dirt, grey/white residue in places. Part of a group of antiquities found in the Faiyum by Hogarth, Grenfell and Hunt, during the winters of 1895-6, 1898-99, 1900-01; presented by the Egypt Exploration Fund (Greco-Roman branch) in 1901; Rubaiyat (or er-Rubayat) is a site in the Faiyum excavated by Grenfell and Hunt in 1901. Many of the mummy portraits in the British Museum are from this site.
