Two fragments of a mummy mask, face missing, with smallest fragment preseving right side of wig and part of a broad collar of beads. Consolidated with paraffin wax by the excavator. John Garstang's team excavated about 250 tombs at "Beni Hasan South" near the mouth of the gorge of the Speos Artemidos in 1904, but this work is less well recorded than that of the earlier shaft tombs he excavated at Beni Hasan. CONDITION NOTE (1998): In [two] sections, backed with wax, cracking, pigment/surface is flaking off esp. face, surface dirt, residue, some fragile areas. Label with the object: "Beni Hassan. Institute of Archaeology Cat. No. 39".
