Mummy Wrapping Cutting

Square cutting from the linen banadages of a mummy found by Flinders Petrie at Meidum in 1891. The mummy was taken to London but destroyed when the Royal College of Surgeons was bombed during the Second World War. The text on the back of the display card describes the mummy and that it was called Ra-Nefer. It also explains that the linen was not all of the same fineness and that the samples represent the different types. Sampled by Oxford University for Radio Carbon Dating as part of the Egyptian Historical Chronologies project.
