Information

Charles W. Sharpe (known as Chas to his friends and often signing his work Chas. W. Sharpe) was a student at the Art School in Liverpool and became a member of the Sandon Studios Society after the move of that group from Sandon Terrace to the Bluecoat Chambers. He was an active member, reporting on exhibitions and painting banners and scenery for events such as the celebrations for the 700th anniversary of Liverpool's charter held in Wavertree Park in 1907. He was also a member of the Liver Sketching Club, the oldest art society in Liverpool, which was founded in 1872 and still holding classes in Gostins Building in Hanover Street today.
