Information

Dayes was primarily a topographical watercolour painter though he experimented with other subjects, including History painting, and other mediums too. He followed closely the prinicipals of the Royal Academy of Arts, London and it's traditional standards at a time when young artists like J M W Turner (1775 - 1851) were developing new watercolour techniques and challenging the pre-dominance of History painting in Britain.
