Circular-shaped offering tray with two circular depressions and channels. Traces of a red slip on the surface. Marked 403 in crayon. Purchased at Sotheby's 20 January 1913, lot 403 "Three early Portable Altars ; one 12 in. wide and 15 in. long ; straight at the bottom and arched at the top, with two deep hollows and two channelled lines shaped as a figure " 8 "; another, elliptical and with deep upright edging, with two circular sinkings and deep groovings leading to a common spout ; another, of very primitive style, forming a simple pointed-oval tray ; all of coarse pottery [PI. XXVIII]". CONDITION NOTE (1998): Chipped, pitted, surface loss, surface dirt, blue writing on surface.
